1543 - Abstract of the will of Johan (Joan) Vagg of Baltonsborough is mentioned in "Somerset wills from Exeter". Will dated 1st June 1543, proved 26th September 1543. The beneficiaries were her sons John and Robert. The witnesses were, John Wither, William Chapell and Sir John Verney.

1544-1555 - Wills in Alford are witnessed by Henry and Walter Vag. Weavers Somerset Wills.

1557 - PCC will mentioning Walter and Agnes Vagge, Horne Blowton being Hornblotton near Alford.

    JOHN MARCHE OF LANGELEY in Kent yoman. Seruaunt vnto Maister Nicholas Rokewood Esquier. To be buried according to discrecion of my overseers. My executrice shall pay all suche legacies detts &e. as are contayned in my fathers William Marches will now being vnpaid. Whereas Maister Christofer Coote thelder of Blowe Norton in Norff: Esquire owith me 5 marks I will ethat William Bullock of Langley yoman shalhave 10s. therof and that 28s. 4d. more shalbe distrinbuted among the poore people of Norton by the said William Bullocke and the residew amonge the poore people at Becknam in Kent by the said William Bullocke and one other. To the said (sic) William Cooke of Langeley my best coote and my blewe coote. Rest of my apparrell there I will to be distributed by George Knightley and Edward Bover among the servinge men now dwelling at Longley except twoo shirks which I doo geve to Vrsula and Elizabeth Browne and my best shert to Dorothee Thomas. To William Bullocke all myn apparrell and stuff I have in Lincolnes Inne saving only a gowne clothe and a cheste whiche I give to Edward Bover.
    To John Hole of Horne Blowton aforesaid an acr of wheate lying next vnto my mylle ion Horne Blowton an acr of beanes to Richard George my brother in lawe.
    To John Cooke 20s. and to a poore maid whiche dwellith at my house at Horne Blowton 20s. more. Residew to Agnes Vagge wif to Walter Vagge which Agnes and Edward Bover I make executors. To the Cathedral Churche of Wells 6d. To the church of Horne Bloweton 5s. To the church of Alford 12d. To my godsonne John Bullocke 12d.
    Witnesse: Sr. Thomas Smyth parson of Saint Martyns Episcopi, Charles Sotherne.
    Memorandum that the myller is to pay 24s. for his wages for three quarters of a yere ended at our Ladye day last past and four weekes before Michaelmas. Item he forgiveth to William Causton all that he owith hym. Item he giveth to Bullocke his sheepe in Norffolk.
    Proved 15 March 1557 by George Harrison notary public proctor for executors.

    Articles of misdemeanour by Thomas Lambert, minister at North Barrow, Elias Vagge and Sampson Adams of Alford, husbandmen against William Kendall of North Barrow for not attending church, threatening the Lambert and Andrews households, his own kindred and the rectors of Wheathill and North Barrow stealing trees, hay, and grazing and maliciously obtaining writs.
