1490 - John Vagg is incumbent of Swell along with John Raynold from the 12th October 1490. They acquired incumbency through "per res." of the previous incumbent Richard Walbet. After the death of John Vagg in 1513 it passed to Walter Westcote.

1513 - The death of Sir John Vagge in 1513 leaves the vicarage of Swell vacant. N.B. It was common for members of the clergy to be referred to as "Sir".

    23 May. Institution of Sir Walter Westcote, chaplain, to the vicarage of Swell, vacant by the death of Sir John Vagge, on the presentation of William, prior of Bruton, and the convent of that place.

1549 - 27th Jan. Isabell Vagge marries Thomas Farmar (Dirrham) at North Curry.

1558 - William Vagg is christened at Drayton, no parents mentioned.

1566 - 31st Jan. Anthony Vagge marries Joane Claye at Drayton.

1579-1580 - Curry Rivel & Drayton deeds, Vagg's tenement in Muchelney, conveyed to Marmaduke and Robert Jennings.

1599 - 17th June. The first Kingsbury Episcopi parish register records the baptism of Richard Vagge son of James Vagge.

1618 - John Vagg matriculates from Oxford University.

1619 - John Vagg A.B. becomes the incumbent of East Lambrook on the 8th October 1619. He acquired the incumbency "per ???" of Robert Bushel. After "per ???" of John Vagg it passed to Samuel Tilley on the 5th Nov 1670.

1621 -The Churchwardens accounts for East Lambrook reveal an entry regarding work on the Church. A lot of work was undertaken on the fabric of the building in this year. There is also a payment of 48s. 2d. for 4 Vanes brought from London to Illchester and then to Kingsbury. (Note; These extracts appear rather garbled, but they are an exact copy. M.V.)

    Wherein James Vagg with one other, under discussments for timber about scaffolder and to cover the stayers and for carpenters, work 31s. 8d.

1621 - James Vagge owns land in Eastlambrooke. And John Vagge is a clerk.

    At Ilchester, April 13, in the 19th year of James I., before Thomas Sowthworth, J.P. Thomas Stuckey and Edmund Prigge desire:-

    This indenture made October 26, in the 18th year of James I., 1620, between George Stuckey of Shepton Beauchampe, yeoman, and Edmund Prigge of Eastlambrooke in Kingsbury Episcopi, yeoman: and William Stuckey of Stoill in Morlynch, husbandman, brother of G.S., witnesseth that G.S. and E.P for 15l. have sold to W.S that 'moyetie' of that tenement in Eastlambrooke containing 1½r. of land, ½a. of arable land in the west field of Eastlambrooke in Moll furlong between the land now or late in the tenure of William Baunton in the west, sometimes in the tenure of Richard Penney and now in that of Thomas Tolman; that other 'moyetie' of the said premises, sometimes in the possesion of Thomas Pavis, and now or late in the tenure of Thomas Baker; that toft and orchard called Westhaye containing 1r., between the land now or late in the tenure of John Smeath on the north, and the land now or late in the tenure of Richard Stagge on the south; that close of land and pasture called Footlandes containing 1½a. in the Northfield of Eastlambrooke between between the land of James Vagge on the south and the land now or late in the tenure of Robert Kinge on the north; that ½a. of land in the said Northfield in a furlong called Doune between the land now or late in the tenure of James Vagge on the west; which premises are now in the tenure of John Russell alias Crocker of South Petherton, in the right of Elizabeth his wife; with all buildings, lands and rights belonging to, and all deeds concerning, the premises; to hold of the chief lord of the fee by the rents accustomed.

    And G.S doth covenant that he and E.P. have full power to sell the premises; and that he will discharge the premises of all encumbrances; except leases of the premises (as above) to Thomas Tolman, Edith his wife and Thomas their son; to Thomas Baker for life, and the reversion of his estates for ninetynine years, if Gyles Cowley his servant and Thomas Bowridge, son of Stephen Bowridge of Chesilborough, husbandman, do live so long; to John Russell and Elizabeth his wife for the lives of Elizabteh, and Edith Pyttard, daughter of Thomas Pyttard of Eastlambrook, tucker; and the rents to the chief lord of the fee, and G.S and Katheryn his wife and E.P. and Elizabeth his wife covenant that during the space of seven years next ensuing they will do all such things for the better assurance of the premises to W.S by fine or otherwise shall be devised by W.S. And G.S. and E.P. appoint William Chaffey of Stoke under Hamdon, clerk, and John Vagge of Eastlambrooke, clerk, their attornies, to give possession of the premises to W.S.

1660 - John Vagg becomes the incumbent of Pendomer on the 4th October 1660. The patron is John Dom. Poulet. He acquired the incumbency "per ???" of John Hallet. After "per ???" of John Vagg it passed to John Prowse on the 10th Nov 1671.

    Messuage, orchard, garden and backside with 34 acres of land in Bower Hinton called Halfe Yard Land, namely land in east, west and south fields, in Henton Mead and closes called South Leaze and Mill and common of posture in Whetmoore, Lousam, Case and elsewhere in manor.
